The Governor of Central Equatoria State, Gen. Augustino Jadalla Kamilo’s convoy, stuck for three hours in poor road condition earlier Tuesday during his tour to the counties of Greater Yei and Wonduruba Administrative Payam.

The convoy also spent ten hours between Morobo and Kajo-Keji, crossing from Panyume, before reaching Kajo-Keji.

It was the longest ride by road during the governor’s tour, according to the governor’s press statement.

Kimilo told people of Greater Yei that his tour in the region—to and fro Juba—by road was “to share the pain and challenges” the civilians are all going through and experiencing along the roads.

Governor Kimilo said he didn’t want to travel to Kajo-Keji through Uganda via Kaya-Koboko-Yumbe-Moyo and Kajo-Keji because he wanted to understand and experience for himself the situation of the roads.

Governor Kimilo might be the first official in South Sudan to test the pain of the roads civilians endure, and since he has experienced it, it’s not yet clear what action he would take to save the lives of people cut off from the national capital by the road network.
