At the burial of the late Lt. Gen. David Majur Dak in Juba, South Sudan, Vice President Rebecca Nyandeng de Mabior delivered a pointed and emotional address, condemning those politicizing the general’s death.
“My husband, John Garang, died in 2005. He didn’t die with the country. He only died with the five people who were with him. For those of you using Majur’s death to incite violence and push your agenda, you are the ones who killed Majur. If you truly loved him, you wouldn’t have kept him in Nasir for more than eight years. Majur was not killed by an enemy; he died at the hands of his own people.”
Her remarks come amid rising tensions, as the VP called for accountability and unity, warning against exploiting the loss for political gain.
