‎President Salva Kiir Mayardit, who also serves as Chairman of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM), on Friday held a high-level consultative meeting with senior party leaders at the State House, reaffirming the ruling party’s commitment to political transformation, reconciliation, and preparations for the 2026 general elections.

‎SPLM Secretary General Dr. Akol Paul Kordit described the gathering as a strategic and forward-looking engagement aimed at revitalizing the party and opening wider political space through constructive dialogue with all opposition groups.

‎Dr. Akol said he presented “time-bound and action-oriented strategic plans” aligned with the Chairman’s directives to modernize and reform the movement as South Sudan approaches the end of its transitional period.

‎Dr. Akol, noted that these plans are expected to be rolled out in the coming days.

‎He urged SPLM members, supporters, and citizens across the country to begin preparing for the December 2026 elections, emphasizing the need to uphold the party’s founding values and principles as it ushers in a new chapter of political competition.

‎According to senior SPLM officials, the party leadership is set to initiate outreach to all opposition groups with the objective of fostering inclusive dialogue and strengthening national stability.

They say the meeting reflects a renewed determination by the SPLM to consolidate peace, rebuild internal structures, and position itself strongly ahead of the long-awaited elections.

‎The consultative discussions are seen as part of broader efforts by the SPLM under President Kiir to promote unity, deepen political reforms, and steer the country toward a peaceful and democratic transition.
