President Salva Kiir Mayardit has dismissed the Undersecretary in the Ministry of Roads and Bridges, John Khot Chol, and appointed Gabriel Makur Amuor as his replacement.
The appointment was made under the Presidency’s new communication protocols, which no longer require announcements of undersecretary appointments to be broadcast on the state-run South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC).Gabriel Makur Amuor is not new to the position.
He previously served as Undersecretary in the Ministry of Roads and Bridges from March 2012 until his removal in July 2017.
His return is seen as a familiar face re-entering a key technical role in one of the country’s most critical ministries.
The Ministry of Roads and Bridges plays a central role in infrastructure development, including the construction and maintenance of highways linking states and facilitating trade, humanitarian access, and national integration.
No official reason was provided for the dismissal of John Khot Chol, in line with the common practice surrounding presidential decrees in South Sudan.
The latest appointment comes amid broader efforts by the presidency to streamline official communications and administrative procedures within government institutions
