President Salva Kiir Mayardit has issued a Republican Decree relieving and appointing new senior officials at the Bank of South Sudan, in a move aimed at strengthening leadership at the country’s central bank.

‎‎According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Presidential Affairs, the President relieved Hon. Samuel Yanga Mikaya, the 1st Deputy Governor for Policy and Banking, and Hon. Rita Nyankir Akoon, the 2nd Deputy Governor for Administration and Finance, from their positions with immediate effect.

‎‎In the same decree, President Kiir appointed new officials to fill the vacant roles. Hon. Tong Akech Deng Aguong has been named the 1st Deputy Governor for Policy and Banking, while Hon. Weituy Luony Baboth was appointed as the 2nd Deputy Governor for Administration and Finance.

‎‎The President expressed his appreciation to the outgoing deputy governors for their dedicated service and contributions to the nation during their tenure. ‎‎

Pesident Kiir also extended his best wishes to the newly appointed officials as they assume their responsibilities at the Bank of South Sudan.‎‎

The changes take effect immediately.
