JUBA, South Sudan – Two students from the University of Juba have designed and built a model passenger aircraft branded “South Sudan Airlines,” showcasing the creativity and innovation of South Sudanese youth.

Stephen Lual Kuanyin and Peter Ater Kuanyin, both students at the University’s School of Architecture, handcrafted the aircraft using locally available materials. The model features South Sudan’s national colors, engines, landing gear, cockpit windows, and the national flag.

The students said the project reflects their determination to use their skills to contribute to the country’s development despite limited resources. They also appealed to the government, private sector, and development partners to invest in young innovators, noting that many talented youths lack the support needed to turn their ideas into reality.

The aircraft model was unveiled ahead of South Sudan’s Independence Day celebrations, serving as a symbol of hope, innovation, and the potential of the country’s young generation.
