SSPDF Attacks SPLA-IO Cantonment Sites in Morobo County

Morobo County, Central Equatoria State—Tensions have escalated following an attack by the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) on SPLA-IO positions in Morobo County. According to a statement released by SPLA-IO spokesperson Col. Lam Paul Gabriel, SSPDF forces launched an offensive at approximately 09:00 AM today, targeting the Kendila cantonment site and Mongoya assembly area.

Statement Released by SPLA-IO

This latest assault follows a previous attack on the Thorgwang cantonment site in Manyo County, Upper Nile State, on March 30, 2025, raising concerns about a renewed military campaign. While the anticipated aerial assault reportedly did not impact SPLA-IO forces, it has caused panic among civilians, triggering significant displacement towards Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The SPLA-IO has condemned the attack, describing it as an act of aggression, and is calling on the international community to hold SSPDF accountable for what it claims is an escalation of hostilities.

The situation remains volatile, with the potential for further displacement and insecurity in the region. Juba Tv will continue to monitor and provide updates as the situation develops.
