Government Unveils Plans to Build Mega International Airport in Terekeka

Juba, South Sudan — The Government of South Sudan, through the Ministry of Transport, has announced ambitious plans to construct a new mega international airport in Terekeka County, Central Equatoria State.

Speaking to journalists in Juba, Hon. Rizik Zakaria Hassan, Minister of Transport, revealed that the proposed airport will be situated in Tali, Terekeka County. The project aims to enhance the country’s air transport network, boost economic growth, and improve connectivity with regional and international destinations.

According to Minister Rizik, the Ministry has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Chinese Roads and Bridges Corporation (CRBC) to conduct feasibility studies for the Tali International Airport Project. The agreement also covers studies for other key transport infrastructure developments across South Sudan.

“The Tali International Airport will serve as a strategic gateway for trade, investment, and tourism. It reflects our government’s commitment to modernizing the nation’s transport infrastructure,” said Hon. Rizik Zakaria Hassan.

The project is expected to create employment opportunities during both the construction and operational phases while positioning South Sudan as a regional hub for air transport and logistics.

Further details regarding the project timeline, budget, and implementation partners are expected to be released upon completion of the feasibility studies.
