South Sudanese Migrants Rescued Near Spanish Coast After Boat Runs Out of Fuel

A group of South Sudanese men attempting to reach Spain from The Gambia were rescued after their boat ran out of fuel just hours from the Spanish coast. According to rescue officials, the migrants improvised a flotation device by tying empty fuel gallons together and sitting on them while navigating toward help.

The men were eventually spotted by a rescue crew, who brought them safely on board. During the operation, the migrants informed rescuers that more people were still stranded behind on the original boat, prompting an immediate follow-up search.

Authorities have not yet released additional details about the condition of those left behind, but search teams continued scanning the area in hopes of locating the remaining passengers.

The incident highlights the extreme risks migrants continue to face on dangerous sea routes to Europe, often relying on unsafe vessels and limited supplies in their attempt to reach safety and better opportunities.
