South Sudan Embassy in Nairobi Closed Over Unpaid Rent

Nairobi, Kenya — The South Sudan Embassy in Nairobi has been closed after reports emerged that the mission failed to pay rent for several months.

According to sources, the landlord locked the premises following prolonged nonpayment, effectively halting embassy operations. South Sudanese students who visited the embassy on Thursday said they found the gates locked and a notice posted by the landlord.

The closure has raised concerns among South Sudanese nationals living in Kenya who rely on the embassy for consular services, including passport renewals and academic verifications.

As of now, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Juba has not issued any official statement regarding the closure or efforts to resolve the dispute.
