South Sudan Embassy in Kenya Reopens After Resolving Rent Dispute

Nairobi, November 12, 2025 — The Embassy of the Republic of South Sudan in Nairobi, Kenya, has officially reopened its doors today, Thursday, November 12, following the resolution of a rent dispute that led to its temporary closure last week.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the embassy announced that it has resumed full operations after completing what it described as “internal administrative arrangements.”

“The Embassy wishes to inform the public, the South Sudanese community, and all partners in Kenya that normal operations will resume tomorrow,” the statement read.

The embassy had been closed earlier after the landlord reportedly locked the premises over unpaid rent, temporarily disrupting consular and visa services for South Sudanese citizens in Kenya.

The statement expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to citizens and clients, assuring them that the matter had been resolved amicably.

“The issue has been settled through constructive engagement and cooperation with all relevant authorities,” the embassy noted, adding its appreciation to the Government of Kenya and the media for their support and understanding throughout the process.

With the embassy’s reopening, consular services including passport renewals, document legalization, and visa processing have resumed.

The incident had sparked concern among members of the South Sudanese community in Kenya, many of whom rely on the embassy for essential documentation and support services

The embassy reaffirmed its commitment to serving citizens diligently and strengthening diplomatic relations between South Sudan and Kenya.
