President Salva Kiir Mayardit has expressed deep sorrow and regret over the devastating fire that destroyed shops in the Nyakuron/Custom area on the evening of 1st December 2025, leaving countless traders and families counting huge losses.In an official statement issued on Tuesday, the President described the incident as “a painful blow on the lives of countless families and hardworking entrepreneurs”, noting that the Nyakuron/Custom area is one of the most important economic hubs of the capital.President Kiir assured the people of South Sudan especially the affected traders that the Government will launch a swift and thorough investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire and prevent similar tragedies in the future.President Kiir directed all relevant security and government agencies to:1. Begin an immediate investigation into the cause of the fire.2. Provide all necessary support to assist affected traders and families.3.
