President Salva Kiir Mayardit Orders Strict Audit of SPLM Assets, Calls for Strong Party Discipline

President Salva Kiir Mayardit has directed the Secretariat of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) to conduct a comprehensive audit and evaluation of all party assets, investments, and affiliated companies both domestically and abroad.‎‎

The directive was issued after Kiir, who also chairs the ruling party, received a progress report from the Secretariat detailing ongoing activities, strategic plans, and preparations for the upcoming general elections. ‎

The briefing followed a recent inspection visit by party officials to Luri Payam to assess SPLM-owned assets and investment projects.

‎‎Speaking during the meeting in Juba, the president emphasized that proper inventory management and accountability would ensure that party members fully benefit from the movement’s investments.

‎‎President Kiir also stressed the need for strict enforcement of discipline across all party structures, including members currently serving in government positions, warning that organizational order remains essential as the country moves toward elections.‎

Meanwhile, SPLM Secretary-General Akol Paul Kordit reaffirmed the party’s readiness for the polls. ‎

He welcomed the recent position taken by African leaders opposing any further extension of the transitional period in South Sudan, noting that the country should proceed with implementing agreed timelines under the political roadmap.‎‎

The SPLM leadership says the audit exercise will help strengthen internal governance, improve transparency, and position the party for effective participation in the forthcoming elections.‎
