President Salva Kiir Mayardit Signs Cybercrime, Audit and Wildlife Bills into Law

President Salva Kiir Mayardit has signed three key pieces of legislation into law, including the Cybercrime and Computer Misuse Bill, the National Audit Chamber Bill, and the Wildlife Conservation and Protected Areas Bill, in a move aimed at strengthening governance, accountability, and environmental protection in the country.‎‎

The newly enacted Cybercrime and Computer Misuse law is expected to provide a legal framework to combat online crimes, regulate the use of digital platforms, and address the growing misuse of information technology.‎

Authorities say the legislation will help law enforcement agencies prosecute offenders involved in cyber-related offenses such as fraud, identity theft, and harmful online content.‎

Meanwhile, the National Audit Chamber law seeks to reinforce financial oversight and accountability in public institutions by enhancing the independence and mandate of the country’s supreme audit body. ‎

Officials believe the reforms will improve transparency in the management of public resources.‎

The Wildlife Conservation and Protected Areas law establishes a regulatory framework for the protection and management of wildlife resources across South Sudan, including conservation areas and biodiversity protection measures. ‎

The government says the legislation will also support tourism development and environmental sustainability.‎

Government representatives described the signing of the three bills as an important step toward institutional reform and modernization of the country’s legal system.‎

The laws were previously passed by the national legislature before being forwarded to the president for assent.
