President Kiir Receives Report from Delegation to Port Sudan

JUBA, December 18, 2025 — President Salva Kiir Mayardit has received a detailed report from a high-level delegation that recently traveled to Port Sudan to hold discussions with Sudanese authorities on strengthening bilateral cooperation.

The delegation was led by the Presidential Advisor on National Security Affairs, Tut Gualak Manime, who briefed the President on the outcomes of the visit. According to Tut, the talks focused on key areas of mutual interest, including security cooperation, oil production, trade, and investment.

During the discussions, both sides emphasized the importance of maintaining stability and collaboration to support shared economic interests. Tut Gualak informed President Kiir that the government reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding and securing the oil fields in Panthou (Heglig) to ensure the uninterrupted flow of crude oil.
The visit underscores the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen relations with Sudan and protect vital national economic assets, particularly in the oil sector, which remains central to South Sudan’s economy.
